Apple has presented the iPhone 17, which integrates the new Center Stage front camera allowing for spectacular selfies ; a powerful main camera Fusion 48 MP equipped with a 2x optical quality telephoto lens ; and a new Fusion 48 MP ultra-wide camera capable of capturing wider scenes and taking more richly detailed macro photos. The 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion is larger and brighter for ultra-smooth navigation, immersive gaming, and improved energy efficiency (1). And thanks to the new Ceramic Shield 2, its front is tougher than any glass or smartphone ceramic glass, offering 3x greater scratch resistance than the previous generation and less glare. It features the latest A19 chip for enhanced performance and longevity.
The iPhone 17 is now offered with an initial storage of 256 GB, twice that of the previous generation, and a storage option of 512 GB, in five stunning finishes: black, lavender, mist, sage, and white.

A powerful camera system for spectacular selfies and high-resolution photos and videos
The iPhone 17 features the all-new Center Stage front camera, further enhancing the photo and video experience. The Center Stage front camera is equipped with the very first square sensor on iPhone, offering an expanded field of view and better resolution – up to 18 MP for photos – allowing for even more detail. Users no longer need to rotate their iPhone to take a landscape selfie: photos and videos can now be taken in portrait or landscape mode while holding the iPhone vertically, for a more comfortable and secure grip with a better-centered view. For group photos, the Center Frame feature uses AI to automatically widen the field of view and switch from portrait to landscape mode to include everyone in the frame. The Center Stage front camera allows for ultra-stabilized 4K HDR videos, while the new Double Capture feature enables simultaneous use of the front and rear cameras to record themselves while showcasing their surroundings. During FaceTime calls or third-party apps, the Center Stage feature stabilizes the people on screen and their position in the frame.
For the first time, all rear cameras on the iPhone 17 offer a resolution of 48 MP, ensuring impressive photos and videos. The main Fusion 48 MP camera captures impeccable details and comes with a built-in 2x optical quality telephoto lens, effectively two cameras in one. The new Fusion 48 MP ultra-wide camera offers a resolution up to 4x higher than that of the previous generation, allowing for wider shots or subtly framed macro photography with even more detail. The next-generation Photographic Styles help users customize their photos by adjusting color, highlights, and shadows in real-time with better distinction of skin tones. Additionally, available in iOS 26, a new Vibrant style will illuminate skin tone and give a boost to the image (2).
L’iPhone 17 allows for stunning videos in Dolby Vision 4K at 60 fps, to which users can apply creative features like Cinematic mode and Action mode. Videos are captured in Spatial Audio for immersive sound; the Audio Mix feature allows for adjusting sound levels after recording to highlight voices and reduce background noise; and the Wind Noise Reduction feature attenuates unwanted noise. The iPhone 17 also enables taking Spatial photos and videos, allowing users to relive their memories with remarkable depth on the Apple Vision Pro.
A beautiful and durable design with Pro-level display
The iPhone 17 features significant improvements in its display as well as a sleek design with a sculpted edge. Available in a singular size of 6.3 inches, the iPhone 17 boasts a thinner border than the previous generation and features a stunning Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion technology and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, ensuring a smooth and energy-efficient experience. The always-on display allows users to see the time, widgets, and Live Activities at a glance, and when not in use, it adjusts to a 1 Hz refresh rate for better energy efficiency.
The iPhone 17 features a Ceramic Shield 2 front, with a new coating designed by Apple offering 3 times greater scratch resistance and improved anti-reflective properties to reduce glare. The iPhone 17 also guarantees comfortable outdoor use thanks to a peak brightness of 3 000 nits – the highest on iPhone – and a contrast ratio twice that of daylight.
The A19 chip: superior performance and all-day battery life
Based on a 3rd generation 3-nanometer manufacturing technology, the A19 chip delivers unmatched performance and energy efficiency, along with incredible speed gains. The updated display engine, image processor, and Apple Neural Engine power features such as Apple Intelligence and the next-generation Photographic Styles. The 6-core CPU is 1.5 times faster than that of the A15 Bionic chip in the iPhone 13, and the 5-core GPU is more than 2 times faster than that of the A15 Bionic, enabling impressive graphics performance and taking mobile gaming to a new level. Neural accelerators are also integrated into every core of the GPU to facilitate the execution of powerful generative AI models on the device.
The energy efficiency of the A19 chip and the advanced power management of iOS 26 provide the iPhone 17 with all-day battery life, and with ProMotion, up to 30 hours of video playback, which is 8 hours longer than the previous generation. In iOS 26, the new adaptive power mode analyzes the usual battery consumption of each user to anticipate when it’s likely to run out, intelligently preserving it until the end of the day. Furthermore, the iPhone 17 can recharge up to 50 % in 20 minutes with an optional high-power USB-C power adapter like the new Apple 40 W Dynamic Power Adapter offering a maximum power of 60 W(3).
The iPhone 17 also introduces the N1 chip, a new wireless networking chip designed by Apple that integrates Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. In addition to integrating the new generation of wireless technologies, the N1 chip improves overall performance and reliability of features such as Personal Hotspot and AirDrop.
With iOS 26 and new Apple Intelligence capabilities
iOS 26 enriches the iPhone experience by offering a beautiful new design, powerful Apple Intelligence capabilities, and relevant improvements to the apps users rely on daily. The new design with Liquid Glass offers a more expressive and enjoyable experience in apps and system-wide, placing greater emphasis on content while retaining the instantly familiar character of iOS. Apple Intelligence is now capable of translating text and audio content in real time thanks to Live Translation, helping users communicate in different languages within the Messages, FaceTime, and Phone apps(4). Enhancements to visual intelligence allow users to take a screenshot with their iPhone, then easily launch a search on the item on-screen or perform an action related to it(5). The foundational model embedded at the core of Apple Intelligence is accessible to all developers, with apps already offering new experiences that safeguard user privacy and can even be used offline. Call and message filtering tools eliminate sources of distraction so users can focus on the conversations that matter most. iOS 26 also introduces new features for CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, and Apple Games, a brand new app that brings together all the users' games in one place.
The iPhone 17 and the environment
Apple 2030 outlines the company's ambitious plan to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire footprint by the end of the decade, reducing carbon emissions from three major sources: materials, electricity, and transport. The iPhone 17 contains 30 % recycled content, including 85 % recycled aluminum in the casing and 100 % recycled cobalt in the battery. It is made with 35 % renewable electricity, including wind and solar power, throughout the supply chain. Designed with sustainability and repairability in mind, the iPhone 17 also benefits from unparalleled software support longevity, while adhering to Apple's high standards for energy efficiency and safe chemical processes. The packaging is made from paper composed of 100 % fibers that can be easily recycled.
The screen has rounded corners that follow the elegant line of the device and fit within a standard rectangle. When measuring this rectangle, the screen has a diagonal of 6.27 inches. The actual display area is smaller.
The new Vibrant photographic style will be available in iOS 26 on the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The Apple 40 W Dynamic Power Adapter with a maximum of 60 W will be available in Canada, mainland China, the United States, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, and Taiwan.
